Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

My experience with Christianity is one of suffering, endurance, and character building. It has been a factory for building and then living upon HOPE. In other words, my Christianity has been real. …
Today's passage is so wonderful, even a knuckle headed podcaster couldn't mess it up. "God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Are you thinking, "God could…
There is something very unique in today's passage. It basically BEGS us to name and claim a passage from Genesis. It says the passage was not written just for a bunch of dead people long ago. It sa…
"The Promise" is code for God's special covenant with Abram. He wasn't even called Abraham yet. The former means "exhalted father", the later "father of a multitude." Before we get into sharing this…
What are your mornings known for? Likely, it is the same things your life is known for. For most people, we will be known for the aggregate of their (morning) habits. So we ask as we look back over t…
Abraham gets to big moment with God and "His faith was counted as righteousness." We are admiring these "1st steps" of faith. Romans refers to this frequently. But there is a bit of a back story that…
We are counting on a God who miscounts. That is, we are relying on the reality that He isn't going to be giving us what we deserve. Rather than wrath for lawless deeds we get forgiveness. Rather t…
"One small step for man. One giant leap for mankind." This is Neil Armstrong's famous quote, but it is essentially what ABRAHAM said/did way way back. Abraham's "first steps" were EFFECTIVE, so we …
The curious question is: What is my relationship to the law, now that a better way has been established? How do I "uphold", honor or even love a law that I cannot do? Don't feel bad, it was designed …
Here is a great PARADOX with no easy answer:
Yesterday, we ended with our hands over our MOUTHS with every person 100% accountable to Him. Today, we end with our hands over our HEARTS in that He does not leave us like that. He makes a way bac…
If you are a person living with enough "spiritual leisure" to ask the question, "Is God JUST in His WRATH?", then you are a person with enough "spiritual leisure" to figure out that 100% of us are si…
Maybe you've asked this question: Is God unjust in that He punishes sin? or "Is God unrighteous to inflict wrath upon us?" If so, you are in good company. Paul himself asks this very question so that…
Eve said regarding being pregnant, "With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man." Similarly, we can say, "With the help of the Lord I am in the family of God." That is, it is by the Spirit …
What if I don't know the moral law that is in the Bible? Don't worry, God WROTE IT ON YOUR HEART anyway, so you know it already. Your conscience bears witness to it. It is something that God gifts…
If all you knew about Christianity was that it was JUST, and the God who ran the show judged and punished righteously it probably would scare you to death. Because of sin and rebellion, what awaits …
God is rich in kindness, forbearance and patience. Big deal. Yawn. Worse yet, let me even abuse His goodness by my mis-thinking and by my mis-deeds.
We don't see classic wrath just yet. We don't witn…
This is a very unpalatable section of scripture. It talks a bit about wrath and perhaps the worst four words in the Bible: "God gave them up."
Now it is not done without appropriate provocation. Th…
To find God today, we don't need to go to a church, or read the Bible. All we need to do is to scroll thru the PHOTOS ON our PHONES. He has already shown Himself to us. And, we probably took a pict…
