Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’
Earlier this morning, I asked of the Lord two things. I knew I was stealing the requests from Moses in Ex 33, "Show us your glory" and "Show us your ways." I figured if the request was good enough f…
A working definition of election is God saying, "Hey, I have been thinking about you." this captures the heart behind election. Today we'll layer on some more truths by first accusing and then disab…
Paul says he'd give up his most valuable thing so that his ethnic brothers and sisters would become his FAITH brothers and sisters. He praises the Jews as occupying an honored place in history:
Paul is rock-solid-sure that GOD IS FOR US. He's been for us, He is for us, He will be for us. The timeline of God's activity cannot be separated from the source of His activity, HIS LOVE. Our intera…
The bad news is that I may be a person who is out of comfort; out of peace; out of food; out of clothes; out of safety and even out of life. To make it worse, I may find myself condemned, charged an…
Join me today as we tackle ELECTION. Here's my (knuckleheaded podcaster) understanding of it: Election is God saying to us, "Hey, I've been thinking about you." and "I am FOR YOU." And "BTW, I've…

We ought to pray. We ought to be understood. He understands our m…
Creation groans with us as we stand between the revealed glory to come and the received world of temptation, evil, and fallenness. Every person you meet groans with the challenges of sin; every blade…
We have much to learn from our AA brothers and sisters in our "battle with sober living." We too were once slaves to the addiction and power of sin. We too were rescued by a process above our pay g…
If you came down for breakfast and found the Holy Spirit in the kitchen making eggs, the Spirit of God in the living room reading the paper, and the Spirit of Jesus out in the yard enjoying the sunri…
The Christian walk is in many ways not very glamorous. Much of it is lived between the ears of one's head, deciding for God, and deciding what to do next. Scripture calls that SETTING the MIND.

"Being found IN Christ" on day 1 is called SALVATION. "Being found in Christ" on the next days is called SANCTIFICATION. I know it is trite, but positionally, I think of Jesus with this large dome o…

The world awaits a baby; a savior; a celestial rescue operation.
You could squander it if you don't agree that it is necessary. In doing so you could waste this Christmas. Worse, you may be wasting …
A rainy day at the zoo was saved by a group of people setting their minds, over and over, with the idea that no matter what happens: "That's OK, we're ON AN ADVENTURE."
Similarly, Paul reminds the Rom…
The "Roman's Road to Salvation" is a conceptual path, a series of thoughts, and a process of the heart, that a not-yet-believer often goes through on their way to salvation. It is a series of waypoi…
We have been endowed as humans with the liberty to chose who we belong to spiritually. It is also stated as "who do we PRESENT MYSELF" to. The choices are pretty clear, black and white, sin or obed…
This is where the rubber meets the road of temptation. Now temptation is still, notably, tempting. Of course. The question is whether I am dominated by it. God asks us to treat temptation differen…
