Perceived effort may not be the best way to determine your easy pace. The tendency for most people is to go too fast on easy runs. But in my case, I was going too slow.
The Flying Finn won 5 gold medals at the 1924 Paris Olympics and it would have been 6 golds if the Finnish selectors had not blocked him from entering the 10,000m (his favorite distance).
Running will never be a mainstream sport as long as it views the Olympics as its pinnacle and as long as we don’t make changes to how the sport is managed in non-Olympic years.
