Steeping in the Word

We must take our cues from God alone.

Guilt is not a Christian feeling. Turn to Christ to be free of shame, guilt, and condemnation.

The war against sin is only won through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Sin seeks every opportunity. Run to Christ to escape death.

Marriage isn't marriage without Christ. 

The gift of grace is the giver himself.

A true Christian submits to God's word alone.

Hell is a consequence of sin; fear of it cannot make us better people. Only God's grace can make us obedient.

We can either live to God in Christ, or die pursuing ourselves.

Baptism is a matter of life and death; it shows that the death of Christ, the resurrection of Christ, and life of Christ are our own.

Grace is about what the Son of God did, not what we can or must do.

God in Christ is alone powerful enough to defeat sin.

When we hate others, it proves we hate God. 

Our hero came when we needed him most. 

The greatest joy--found in Christ alone--comes from rejoicing in our suffering.

When we are at peace with God the world opposes us. When we are brought into the favor of God, the hope of his glory overcomes our disappointment with the world.  

Faith is for God's glory, not the fulfillment of our desires. 

Faith is the narrow road to life; the ditches are denying God or trying to usurp his throne.  His grace, the undeserved gift of life by the death and resurrection of Christ, is the only way. 

The promise of an inheritance from God comes through the righteousness of faith. 

What makes people "the chosen people of God" is God's gracious choosing. This blessing is for those who trust in his promise of the blessing of righteousness as true children trust their father.
