Be With Me is a daily 7 minute chronological walk through the New Testament hosted by Michael Smith. It is for everyone who is curious about what Jesus actually said and did in the gospels. Most episodes will leave you with at least one good thought to chew on for the rest of the day. We start with the Bible and hopefully end with Awe. We are walking through the chronological events of Jesus' life and then thoughtfully considering them. It is meant to spur the devotional life of the Christian and the not-yet-Christian. We occasionally venture into the Old Testament when it helps our understanding of the New Testament events. Everybody has 7 minutes. Everybody needs to wonder. Be With Me is hosted by Michael Smith who has absolutely no special qualifications to do a podcast. He is not a pastor. He has not been to seminary. He does not lead a mega-church. He is not a professional and he has no more credentials than you do. He does, however, follow a great God with an observant eye and a curious heart. Each day, he starts with a study bible and aims for astonishment. ‘be with him’ for 7 minutes as he sets out daily to discover the God who invites us to ‘Be With Me.’

The term "gods" in reference to humans is a little sticky.…
Jesus is certainly not afraid of referring to the "hard" scriptures of the Old Testament. Here, He references one of the two times that people are referred to as "gods" (small g). That will certain…

This podcast just blew me away.
Jesus wants us to know something SO IMPORTANT that He repeats it and repeats it and repeats it and repeats it. Not exaggerating there. Actually 5 times. Here it is: …
Looking backwards in time, God did not ALWAYS describe Himself as a Shepherd. It had to start somewhere. Today we will go to that spot in the Bible.
Before this Psalm, not much is mentioned in Scrip…
I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD so says Jesus. There is a lot to this claim.
There is a lot of good shepherding warm and fuzzies which of course we should not overlook. He speaks, He knows us, He provides fo…
There is so much in this passage about the qualities of God I had to make up a new word: ABUNDANCY. You heard it here first.
In no particular order, Lord You ARE:
Today's passage brings great comfort. It is about the Lord's protection, and His PRESENCE, and His provision and His PLAN. All good stuff.
Well, ALMOST all good. We need some protection. There a…

Jesus is and has been in the business of making eyes from mud. That is how you got them and can read this. That is how I got them and can write this. Since we are from the dust, what else is new? …
I am becoming quite charmed by this blind guy in John chapter 9. Apparently so was God. He wrote ALL of Chapter 9 about him.
He "sees" the Lord without his eyes today. At the end of the story, he…
When we read Scripture, we must "read it on our knees", at least figuratively. Literally, with thanks to George Whitefield, would be even better. So let's approach this story of a blind man and all…
Jesus and the Jews at the Temple are arguing where Jesus and Abraham rank in relation to one another. At the end, they'll try to stone Jesus because of Who He asserts to be.
In the meantime, Jesus dr…
