You are listening to Episode 3 of the Create What You Crave podcast. The one where I shine a light on the messages and myths of imposter syndrome.
Today we are talking about Imposter Syndrome.
Now, I don’t like the term “syndrome” because it makes me think of a sickness that is outside of my control. Like it’s something you’re diagnosed with. It’s a label that isn’t useful and can be detrimental to how you see yourself and others.
I prefer the term imposter phenomenon. The definition of that is: “a fact or situation that is observed to exist or happen.”
So rather than use syndrome or complex – I’ll be using phenomenon moving forward.
Lately, there’s been a lot of buzz around the imposter phenomenon and how society targets women as having it more than men. That is not the case. Men suffer from self-doubt, anxiety, and discomfort just as much as women do.
Listen in as I deep dive into the background and topic of the imposter phenomenon.
