Woven In Courage: My Military Experience With Renee Hegens

Renee Hegens' military experience includes eight years of service in the United States Army, operating heavy equipment in support of Kuwait and Iraq after the 9/11 attack. Renee almost lost her life when a roadside bomb hit her truck. She was honorably discharged as a combat veteran. As a young woman and an African American, Renee experienced discrimination. Her faith gave her the strength to triumph during her deployment. Renee is grateful for her military experience because it enabled her to grow. She is grateful to God for her life and the support of her family during her deployment.
