(Intro & piano music)
What are you having for breakfast? I have a word for you that's been going in circles like that spoon in your tea. Μέλι (meli) in Greek means 'Honey' and an 'apple' in ancient Greek was μέλον (melon), Yes ,yes that's a whole other episode. Μέλιμελον (melimelon) was a 'sweet apple' and coming to Latin, a paste made from apples was named Melimelum. The Portuguese then, took that and made a similar paste but out of quince and they gave it a name that in the 17th century became so popular (that even the Greeks still use) for any fruit preserve ΜΑΡΜΕΛΑΔΑ/MARMALADE
