Whether it's a friendship, family or romantic relationship it can be a little tricky. As much as we want it to stay the same forever, that is not always the case. This brings the question of how these expectations have evolved from our traditional understanding of relationships. We still seek a companion, as well as affection and social support. While the foundations of relationships stay the same, our ways of seeking companionship have changed. With more individual-centered thinking, relationships have become a space where people prioritize the happiness they want for their future selves and not holding on to happiness from the past.
