- Attention says “you matter more than anything else.”
- Focus on making eye contact and smiling
- Be good a listener and remember the things your kid talks about/bring up often
- Celebrate their achievements, and show interest in their interests and activities
- Ask follow-up questions to keep the conversation going
- Give them 30 minutes of your full attention, rather than an hour of half of your attention
- What does appropriate attention look like?
- Show up, enter into their world, and show them that what’s important to them is important to you because they are important to you
