  • Attention says “you matter more than anything else.”
  • Focus on making eye contact and smiling
  • Be good a listener and remember the things your kid talks about/bring up often
  • Celebrate their achievements, and show interest in their interests and activities
  • Ask follow-up questions to keep the conversation going
  • Give them 30 minutes of your full attention, rather than an hour of half of your attention
  • What does appropriate attention look like?
    • Show up, enter into their world, and show them that what’s important to them is important to you because they are important to you
