Songs with a Name Change

Many songs start off with one name but on release have another name.

Thunderclap Newman’s ‘Something In The Air’ was originally called ‘Revolution’ but because of The Beatle’s song with the same name it was changed.

The original name for Cher’s ‘Gypsies Tramps And Thieves’ included the words ‘White Trash’ so was considered unsuitable.

The Fleetwood’s 1959 hit ‘Come Softly To Me’ was amended from ‘Come Softly’ the latter being considered too risque.

Perhaps the most unusual and amusing song changes were to The Beatle’s ‘Yesterday’ (originally ‘Scrambled Eggs’) and Patsy Cline’s ‘Crazy’ with the working title of ‘Stupid’.
