In this week’s program we are airborne. There are songs about planes and airports such as the John Denver penned Leaving On A Jet Plane popularised by Peter Paul And Mary and country singer Susan Raye’s crossover hit LA International Airport. David Bowie floats around in space with his epic Space Oddity and the Fifth Dimension take to the air in a balloon on Up Up And Away. Flying as metaphor is the theme of LGBTIQ+ singer Janis Ian’s Fly Too High and Patti Page’s rendition of the standard Fly Me To The Moon.
