Follow the adventures of Ess Fremont, who runs away from an oppressive boarding school when her grandparents go missing. Disguised as a boy, she encounters Secret Service agents, Pinkertons, rebels, circus performers, and President Lincoln. She uses her wits and her grandparents' inventions while hunting for her missing brother, and hoping someday to find out the truth about her grandparents' fate.

Episode 29/Chapter 22: Ess takes the thieves' loot to put back in a guest's room, and is caught and accused of theft. Pinkerton Agent Horace Wilson comes to her rescue.
