Follow the adventures of Ess Fremont, who runs away from an oppressive boarding school when her grandparents go missing. Disguised, as a boy, she encounters Secret Service agents, Pinkertons, rebels, circus performers, and President Lincoln. She uses her wits and her grandparents' inventions while hunting for her missing brother, and hoping someday to find out the truth about her grandparents' fate.

Episode 23/Chapter 17: Ess's suspicions of Durgen are proven true, and an explosion is imminent, threatening Ess, Jasper, Stockwell, and perhaps the entire circus.
