Follow the adventures of Ess Fremont, who runs away from an oppressive boarding school when her grandparents go missing. Disguised, as a boy, she encounters Secret Service agents, Pinkertons, rebels, circus performers, and President Lincoln. She uses her wits and her grandparents' inventions while hunting for her missing brother, and hoping someday to find out the truth about her grandparents' fate.

Episode 10/Chapter 08: Ess's hopes for information about her parents and grandparents are dashed when her new friend dies of his wounds. She goes home, looking for Giles, and discovers the Resurrectionists did attack the house, and Giles was killed. She is forced to change her plans to stay safe.
