One of the biggest lessons I've learned from living in Los Angeles for the past few years is to honor the worth of everyone around me -- no matter their circumstances.
So many people in this city are experiencing homelessness. I see people sleeping on the street I live on every night.
It can feel like an overwhelming issue -- so much suffering and challenge and struggle. But I've been learning to see this as a chance to honor the worth of everyone around me, to see myself in them, and to give the most simple offering I can -- my acknowledgment of their worth.
As I was walking home tonight and pondering this, I realized that my energy levels are directly related to my level of worth. When I let my circumstances dictate my worth, my energy can plummet. But when I anchor myself in habits that remind me of my worth, my energy soars, despite my circumstances.
I recorded a few of my thoughts on this to remind myself that my relationship with my worth determines my level of energy. And I can always control my relationship with my worth.
