Kiss Don’t Tell

26 

An honest answer
     is like a kiss of friendship.

27 

Do your planning and prepare your fields
     before building your house.

28 

Don’t testify against your neighbors without cause;
     don’t lie about them.

Verse 27 is practical advice: Take care of the basics before pursuing comforts. Get a stable job before buying a house or expensive items. Make sure you have a reliable source of income before committing to costly projects.

Verse 28 repeats one of the Ten Commandments: "Do not bear false witness."
