1. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is appearing before a congressional committee, where he’s facing questions about turmoil at federal health agencies. Kennedy recently fired Susan Monarez, a longtime government scientist he installed as the CDC director for less than a month and has sought to reshape the nation’s vaccine policies to match his long-standing suspicions about the safety and effectiveness of long-established shots. Secretary Kennedy took a grilling on Capitol Hill and it at times came from both sides of the aisle. The Secretary was heavily pushed on his decision to get rid of Monarez, who wrote for The Wall Street Journal and op-ed on the situation.
2. A Federal Judge Rules that the Trump Administration acted unlawfully when it froze $2 billion dollars in Federal Grants. Harvard is the only University to take on the White House in court, but uncertainty remains as the Trump administration has said it plans to “immediately appeal" the judge's ruling.
3. The NFL Season begins tonight in Philadelphia with the defending champion Eagles hosting the Dallas Cowboys. One thing you will likely NOT see tonight is the down and distance chain gang measuring for a first down. Another change: OVERTIME. In the past, if the first team got the ball and scored a touchdown, it was game over. Now to make it more even, both teams will get at least one chance to score. One game tonight, one tomorrow as the Chiefs take on the Chargers. A full slate of games on Sunday including the Packers and Lions from Lambeau. The Packers will wait until Sunday to begin the season against the Detroit Lions. The Vikings visit the Bears on Monday Night Football.
