Wintrust Business Minute: CareerBuilder + Monster files for bankruptcy

Steve Grzanich has the business news of the day with the Wintrust Business Minute.

Two of the companies that used to be the biggest for online job recruiting and job searching have filed for bankruptcy. CareerBuilder and Monster merged in 2024, and business has been shrinking since the heyday in the 1990’s. It fell off even more during the pandemic. The company says the bankruptcy filing will facilitate a sale. It listed liabilities between $100 and $500 million and assets of just $50 to $100 million. One report says CareerBuilder’s revenue dropped nearly 40% last year.
