After moving from Detroit to Oakland as a kid, Jamal adjusted to the change by using athletics and training to form bonds with childhood friends. Some of these friends include NFL athletes Marshawn Lynch and Josh Johnson. Growing up in a single-parent household and watching his mom work from sun up to sun down set a foundation and instilled a work ethic and values for Jamal that would prove to be crucial as he started his training business. On the show, we discuss how Jamal began training at a local boys and girls club, and how the after-school and obesity programs helped him teach others. Jamal made several sacrifices for his training business and family early on even if it meant living in the gym and selling his car to help pay for rent. Jamal has scaled his business from a few athletes to over a hundred NFL athletes with NFL offseason and combine programs. Jamal’s goal is to help each client of his capitalize on their potential.
