Ep.53 - Kaepernick, Tyler Perry & SPOTY

In a week where:

1. Vue bans showings of "Blue Story" because of a brawl including two machetes & a knife broke out in Birmingham. 
2. 18-year-old Caroline Dubois wins BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year.
3. BBC face backlash after editing clip of Boris Johnson.
4. Patrick Patterson of the Los Angeles Clippers referred to black women as “bulldogs,” when asked why NBA players marry white women.
5. George The Poet rejects MBE, citing 'pure evil' of the British Empire.

In the 1st of three(!!!) Sports segment: (15:00) The NBA is looking to refresh the Regular Season. The fans, teams & players are very apathetic about the Regular Season so the NBA is throwing out ideas to revolutionise and make people care about Non-Playoff games again.

In the 2nd Sports segment: (28:14) Writer & Author Ta-Nehisi Coates provides a different viewpoint when looking at the Colin Kaepernick/NFL situation.

In Film/TV: (41:13) I've been fascinated with Tyler Perry and how people see him. Most see him as a Trailblazer who has "literally built his own table". But does the fact that his creative works are polarising at best demand a tighter eye before hailing him?

Lastly, in the final Sports segment: (54:56) The finalists for the 2019 BBC Sports Personality of the Year have dropped and whilst every one of the six has a great chance, there are two clear favourites for me personally.
