Pastor Chris Teien shares his transformative journey serving with Vision for Children – Chile at the House of Hope in La Pintana, Santiago. Over the course of three weeks and 5,000 miles from home, he faced cultural barriers, unexpected provision, new friendships, and daily opportunities to live, lead, and serve with faith.

This special message is more than a recap of a mission trip—it’s a vivid, real-life testimony of how God works through ordinary people in extraordinary ways. With humor, humility, and biblical insight, Pastor Chris shares ten meaningful and memorable lessons from his experience in Chile—lessons that will challenge and inspire you to live on mission wherever God has placed you.

Outline of the 10 Lessons:

#1 Don’t Get in the Way of What God Is Doing
(3 Jn. 5–8; Isa. 52:7) — Sometimes blessings begin with an unexpected interruption. When we welcome God’s messengers, we join in His work.

#2 Don’t Be Surprised When God Provides
(Phil. 4:19) — God often funds what He favors. If He calls you, He will make a way.

#3 Get Advice from Others Before You Go and While You're There
(Prov. 11:14; Heb. 10:24) — Listening and learning from others builds wisdom, safety, and stronger relationships on the field.

#4 See How God Uses Your Past to Prepare You for the Future
(Rom. 8:28; Eph. 2:10) — Skills, stories, and struggles from your past may be the very tools God wants to use in His mission.

#5 Be Ready to Share the Hope Within You
(1 Pet. 3:15) — Whether with tools in hand or in broken Spanish, your faith story can make an eternal difference.

#6 Don’t Miss Out on Adventure Opportunities
(Prov. 3:5–6) — Mission trips (and life) aren’t just about tasks—they're also about trusting God in the unexpected and saying yes to the journey.

#7 Work Unto the Lord—Even When It’s Hard
(Col. 3:23–24) — From sanding drywall to waking up early to make pancakes, every act of service becomes sacred when done for Christ.

#8 Express Concerns in Advance
(Phil. 4:6–7) — Speak up with wisdom and prayer. God often uses your voice to help keep others safe and supported.

#9 Be Ready to Lead Whoever God Puts on Your Team
(1 Thess. 5:11; Tit. 2:7) — Leadership isn't about titles—it’s about encouraging and equipping whoever God puts in front of you.

#10 Know That God Gives You the Desires of Your Heart
(Ps. 37:4–5) — From the chance to see the Andes Mountains to finishing ministry workrooms, God delights in the details that delight you.
