In July 2024, venture funding reached over $23 billion, marking a 20% year-over-year increase despite a slight decline from the previous month. The largest funding went to Clio, a legal tech company, which secured $900 million. The healthcare and biotech sectors led investments, raising $6 billion, followed closely by AI companies with $5.8 billion. Prominent AI funding rounds included Baichuan Intelligence, Cohere, and Helsing. Hardware companies and financial services also saw significant funding, with $3.3 billion and $2.6 billion respectively. Lineage Logistics executed the largest IPO of 2024, raising $4.4 billion. In cloud software, Nasuni received major investments valuing it at $1.2 billion. Notable acquisitions in the biotech and healthcare sectors included Nerio Therapeutics and Jnana Therapeutics. AI companies have not experienced billion-dollar exits, as Big Tech prefers licensing technology and team acquisitions to circumvent regulatory issues.
