One Woman's Journey to Inform, Educate & Inspire

Host Michelle Beck welcomes Valerie David, The Pink Hulk, to talk about how she has turned her line of work into a platform to inform, educate and inspire those around her and around the world.

Valerie David (playwright/performer) currently performs her two award-winning solo shows The Pink Hulk: One Woman’s Journey to Find the Superhero Within and Baggage From BaghDAD: Becoming My Father’s Daughter.

She wrote the autobiographical comedic drama The Pink Hulk to express the empowerment she felt being able to find humor and superhero inner strength going through three bouts of cancer to become a 3-time cancer survivor (lymphoma and breast cancer twice). The Pink Hulk has been accepted into almost 50 different play festivals since its 2016 debut; it is a testament TO NEVER GIVE UP, inspiring audiences worldwide,.

Baggage From BaghDAD is about her father and his family fleeing Iraq in 1941 from religious persecution and starting a new life in America. She is performing Baggage From BaghDAD both domestically and internationally as an educational piece to create awareness of The Farhud, an essential, important part of history that has largely been forgotten—a 1941 Middle Eastern pogrom against the Jews of Baghdad. It is a show that highlights and addresses today’s rise of global prejudice and discrimination.
