Today I want to witness about the power of prayer. I saw a random YouTube Video. I will put a link in the show notes for the video. One of my Facebook friends posted it on her page, so I clicked. In the video, a priest talks about his friend John Petravitch, who was running through his neighborhood and saw an ambulance. He is a nice guy, so he wondered if he should stop and check if everything was okay. He thought, I don’t know the lady, and I am not a doctor, so he kept running. He decided to pray one Hail Mary while he was running. He didn’t stop and fold his hands in a prayer position. He didn’t kneel. He just prayed one Hail Mary while running. He didn’t think anything of it. A week later, he is jogging around the same neighborhood and hears this woman call out from her porch, “Hey you, sir.” He kept running as he didn’t know anyone from that neighborhood. Then she said, “No, you, the runner.” He stopped and looked at her and said, “Me?” And she said yes, and then, “You saved my life.” He said, “I’m sorry, Ma’am, I don’t think we know each other.” She said, “No, I recognize your face.” And here is the story. She explained, “Last week, I got sick and was rushed to the hospital. I was in the hospital dying, and Jesus appeared to me. He held out His hand, and your face was in the palm of His hand. Jesus told me you were going to die, but because of this man's prayer, you will live. That is the power of praying one Hail Mary. Can you imagine the power of praying the whole rosary? That would be 53 Hail Mary’s. If you have never said the rosary before, try it. If you are saying it sporadically, try saying it daily for the rest of the month. That is the challenge the priest in the video is giving us. St. Pius said, “If you want to save the world, say the rosary.” If there were ever a time when the world needed saving, it would be now.

The Holy Spirit brought to mind when Tony and I said the miraculous Rosary Novena together. The miraculous rosary novena is a 54-day novena, so basically, 6 novenas as a novena is typically 9 days of prayer. This rosary was promised anything you ask when you say it will be granted. You pray 3 novenas, 27 days in petition for the thing, and then 27 days in thanksgiving, even though you have not received it yet. We prayed for our neighbor, who is two years younger than our youngest and had cancer in her thigh. They thought she might have to lose her leg. We prayed that she would be cured of the cancer and not lose her leg. She did have surgery, and I think they removed part of the muscle or something, but she did not lose her leg, and she is cancer-free. Praise God. I felt like the Holy Spirit revealed to me this morning that although we were praying for someone else and not ourselves, we needed prayers as we struggled in our marriage. While God was working on our neighbor’s cancer, He was also working on our marriage. We grew so much closer together, and I believe the Holy Spirit showed me that it was saying the rosary together that helped that happen.

Isn’t it amazing how God does that? He can heal something broken even when you aren’t praying for that. I have heard a saying, “God won’t be outdone in generosity.” We were praying for someone else, and God healed us. When we give to those in need, we don’t have to be worried about our needs because God will provide. My parents always said yes, even if they didn’t have the money, because they knew God would provide. I remember once my parents talked about wanting to join Amway to make more money. They did not have the money to do so. They quickly prayed to the Lord, asking Him what they should do. They decided they would only join Amway if they got the start-up fee from somewhere. They knew they didn’t have the money through my dad’s regular paychecks. They prayed, and then they just waited to see.

Sometime that week, my parents received a check from my grandfather. I forget why he was sending them a check, but it was not for the amount they expected. He had written in a note with the check that he felt the Holy Spirit prompted him to add a certain amount to the check. He was not sure why. My grandpa added the amount they needed for a start-up fee to join Amway. However, my parents hadn’t told him they wanted to join Amway or how much it would cost them to join. God is so good! He hears our prayers. He is so generous.

My parents also talked about how they did a novena when they struggled to get pregnant. Each time they finished the novena, my mom was pregnant shortly after that. Thank you, Lord, you are so good! I hope these examples of our prayers' importance will inspire you to lean on prayer more often. I hope the first story, about the man who said the one Hail Mary, will inspire you to say a Hail Mary when you see someone in need. I also hope you will consider saying the rosary more often. Even if you say one decade a day, that will only take about 5 minutes, but you will be saying a full rosary at least once a week. It will change your life.
