Uduimoh Umolu is the founder of Jon Basíl, a Illinois-based, millennial-owned, multicultural tequila brand rising to fame in the spirits industry. The brand celebrated its five year anniversary this week, but it’s been a long journey to the brand’s success today. Before his company’s launch in 2018, Umolu went through a meticulous four-year process of crafting Jon Basíl — from the bottle’s distinctive design to the quality of the tequila itself. Crediting his Ghanaian, Nigerian and Chicago roots for his entrepreneurial success, he sat down with Vocalo host Bekoe to share more into his background and his vision for building a brand that goes beyond spirits.
This interview was produced by Bekoe and edited by Blake Hall. Keep up with Uduimoh Umolu by following him on Instagram @finding_duimoh, and stay up to date with Jon Basíl on Instagram @jonbasiltequila.
