You may not know Lee Crooks by name, but if you’ve ever ridden the CTA you’ve definitely heard his voice. Crooks has been the voice of the CTA since 1998 — with his vocals playing on trains since 2000 and buses since 2003 — and made a stop at the Vocalo studios to discuss his 25-year career with host Nudia Hernandez. Crooks shared the journey that led him to become the voice of the CTA and his tenured career as a voice actor in the city and beyond. Over the last 25 years as the CTA’s identifiable voice, he has grown a deep appreciation for all that he means to transit commuters of Chicago.
