Zambian singer Sampa The Great and her band have consistently broken barriers as the first Zambian performers at Lollapalooza, Coachella and, most recently, ‘The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.’ Currently on tour in support of the deluxe version of her 2022 album ‘As Above, So Below,’ Sampa called in from the road to chat with Vocalo’s Nudia Hernandez on the air before her Chicago show at Thalia Hall on June 14. They discussed the album, touring, her Zamrock roots, meeting Michelle Obama and having a song featured in a trailer for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.’
This interview aired on Vocalo Radio 91.1 FM during Nudia In the Afternoons on Wednesday, June 14. It was edited and produced by Nudia Hernandez and Morgan Ciocca. Keep up with Sampa The Great on Instagram @sampa_the_great.
