Returning to Chicago for his first hometown show in more than a decade, multi-Grammy and Emmy-winning interdisciplinary creator Malik Yusef stopped by the Vocalo studios to explain why he’s taken so long to perform in the city again. He sat down with Bekoe to break down what fans can expect from the performance, which will take place at City Winery on August 25. Their conversation has been divided into two parts; this segment discusses growing up neurodivergent, the spoken word category at the Grammys, how music is always playing in his head, investing in Kanye and his relationship with Donda West.
