Chicago artist Kayo uses his background in Islam and family values to inform his message. Recently Kayo released his debut album ‘It Was Fun While It Lasted,’ which, to him, represents accepting the good and the bad of a situation. Though it touches on a range of topics, the title represents Kayo’s musical journey and, “saying to the old me, it was fun while it lasted!” Before his show at Schubas Tavern on Saturday July 15, Kayo sat down at the Vocalo studios with mornings host Bekoe to discuss the album, his relationship with spirituality and his family, as well as his new single “FREE OF CHARGE.”
This interview was conducted and produced by Bekoe. It aired live on 91.1 FM during Mornings With Bekoe on Wednesday, July 12. Keep up with Kayo on Instagram @SouthsideKayo.
