Black Star Line Festival 2023: Bekoe's Recap

Last weekend was the inaugural Black Star Line Festival, Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa’s free music festival in Accra, Ghana featuring performances from Erykah Badu, T-Pain, Tobe Nwigwe, Vic, Chance and many others. The festival brought out 52,000 attendees and went all night into the morning — and Vocalo’s own Bekoe got the chance to attend.

With the help of Chicago journalist Dometi Pongo, we heard from performers Tobe Nwigwe, Jeremih and Chance himself. Festival-goers, including Grammy-nominated Chicago spoken word artist J. Ivy, also gave their input on the festival and its importance, and Bekoe broke down “the highs & the lows” from his time in Ghana.
