Chicago artist-turned-mentor Add-2 stopped by the Vocalo studios to sit down with mornings host Bekoe and discuss his dedication to supporting the next generation of the city’s creators. Though he hasn’t released music since 2019’s ‘Jim Crow the Musical,’ Add-2 has been a strong presence in the Chicago arts community through his work at Haven Studios, which provides youth with creative resources in a positive environment. Accompanied by his former mentee Jeremiah Fristoe, he reflected on the importance of having a mentor, when Obama visited Haven Studios this spring, and new music in the works.
This interview originally aired on Vocalo Radio 91.1 FM during Mornings With Bekoe on Thursday, September 7. It was edited and produced by Bekoe. Keep up with Add-2 by following him on Instagram @add2themc.
