This is part 1 of a 3-part interview series from an IRL community pop-up event in Chicago where I had the honor of interviewing mujeres who wanted to share their madrehood stories.
In this episode, we welcome Marisa Ikpoh, president and founder of The Give-n-Receive Inc., who shares her journey of creating a free community pop-up boutique in Chicago. Her organization offers gently used clothing and accessories for all ages and genders, regardless of financial status.
Marisa also discusses the importance of teaching her daughters fiscal responsibility and self-confidence while promoting sustainable fashion practices. Finally, she touches on the challenges and successes of running a family-operated nonprofit and her dreams of expanding the initiative with a mobile boutique to reach more communities.
