Marco Carlos MA, Patient Navigator at Urology of Austin will discuss PYLARIFY® (piflufolastat F 18) Injection used in PET/CT imaging for the detection of prostate cancer in patients. PYLARIFY is a diagnostic imaging agent that contains the radioactive isotope fluorine-18 (F 18) attached to a molecule called piflufolastat. This radiopharmaceutical is used to visualize specific biological processes in the body.

Prostate cancer cells have an increased expression of a molecule called prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA). PYLARIFY is designed to bind to PSMA receptors on the surface of prostate cancer cells. By attaching F 18 to piflufolastat, PYLARIFY can be detected using positron emission tomography (PET) imaging, which produces detailed images of the distribution of this radiopharmaceutical in the body.
