Intermittent catheterization is a medical procedure in which a thin, flexible tube called a catheter is inserted through the urethra into the bladder to drain urine. This procedure is typically used for people who have difficulty urinating due to a medical condition, such as spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, or urinary retention.

This week Lisa Beauchemin BS, RN, CURN from Wellspect will be discussing the LoFric catheter line. The LoFric catheter is a hydrophilic catheter, meaning it is coated with a layer of water-soluble lubricant that becomes slippery when wet. This makes the catheterization process more comfortable and less traumatic for the user.
