Welcome to the first episode of Up Close: A Music in the Round podcast, presented by Tom McKinney.

• Violinist Claudia Ajmone-Marsan introducing a series of readings from Beethoven's letters with an account of the composer's meeting with Mozart;
• Beethoven’s String Quartet Opus 18 No.5 played for us by members of Ensemble 360: violinists Benjamin Nabarro and Claudia Ajmone-Marsan, with violist Ruth Gibson and cellist Gemma Rosefield recorded in December 2020 at the Upper Chapel in Sheffield.
