Dorchester’s Rink of Dreams: Legends from the Neighborhood

In this episode, we take a nostalgic trip back to Helena Road in Dorchester, Massachusetts—a true hotbed of hockey talent and community spirit. Growing up on this legendary street meant being surrounded by not just great families, but some of the best young hockey players in the city.

We highlight local legends like Mark Dennehy, who played college hockey at Boston College and now works with the New Jersey Devils, and Kevin O’Sullivan, who made his mark at Boston University. Just a street over on Elmer Road, we had Chris O’Sullivan, a standout at BU, and his sister Stephanie, a star at Providence College. Special thanks to Shaun O’Sullivan for always taking us to Walter Brown Arena and making us feel like part of the family.

We also look back on the careers of Kevin and Jimmy Hayes—who went from Nobles to Boston College and on to the NHL—Scotty Perry, Brendan Walsh, and Robbie Concannon. And of course, we talk about Brian and Keith Yandle: Brian made waves at UNH, while Keith reached NHL stardom, once holding the Ironman streak.
