In this passage, Paul talks about the power of the Holy Spirit. We will see that the change of nature (caused by the Holy Spirit) results in a change in how we live our life (empowered by the Holy Spirit).
The Change in Nature (5-11):
Those in the flesh set their minds on the flesh, those in the Spirit set their minds on the Spirit.
Those in the flesh are hostile to God, those in the Spirit are indwelt by God.
Those in the flesh cannot please God, those in the Spirit receive life because of His righteousness.
Those in the flesh have eternal death, those in the Spirit have eternal life.
The Change in Action (12-13):
The Christian is no longer ruled by the flesh, but is ruled by the Spirit.
The Christian is strengthened by the Holy Spirit to put to death the deeds of the body.
