Romans 6:11-14 - Living in Light of God's Grace

This is the first time in Paul's epistle that he urges his readers to do something. We will see in this passage four imperatives as to how the Christian is to live in light of being united with Christ, followed by one indicative reminding us of the grace we have received.

• The Command (v11-13):

  • Christian: Be confident - that you are dead to sin and alive to God

  • Christian: Do not - let sin reign in your life

  • Christian: Do not - live as an instrument of unrighteousness

  • Christian: Live - as an instrument of righteousness

• The Truth (v14):

  • Christian: You are under grace, not the law
