Romans 15:1-6 - Living in Deep Love and Unity in the Body of Christ

Paul continues to stress the importance and necessity of living in deep love and unity with those in the body of Christ. Here, he gets specific by giving us a charge of what are to do, an example of what it looks like, the means of how we are able to do this, and the purpose of why we should do this.

• The Charge (v1-2)
  • To come alongside the weaker Christian and carry their burden
  • To please others, not ourselves, by building them up
• The Example (v3)
  • Christ did not live to please Himself
  • Christ demonstrated this by the suffering He endured
• The Means (v4-5a)
  • We are instructed through Scripture
  • We are empowered by God
• The Purpose (v5b-6)
  • Christians are to live in harmony with one another
  • Christians are to live for the glory of God
