This week on Two Girl Cinema Club it’s part 2 of Wes Anderson movies. Before we dig into the films, Ailish teases 28 Years Later, Hannah recaps the latest news from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and we both discuss the insane documentary, Abducted in Plain Sight. Should we do a documentary week and if so, what are some of your favorites that we should check out?
Getting into Wes Anderson, we watched some of his unexpected films this week starting with the Isle of Dogs. The stop motion animation was just amazing here and we both liked this movie a lot more than we thought we would. Even though it was animation and not live action, it still really felt like we were in Wes Anderson’s world. We also watched his collection of short films inspired by the works of Roald Dahl: The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, The Swan, The Rat Catcher, and Poison. These were lesser-known to us, and we felt Anderson really maintained the integrity of Dahl’s writing. As a bonus, Hannah also watched The Fantastic Mr. Fox!
