Parasocial Relationships - From Gaylor to Larry, and All the Blind Items In Between

On the podcast this week, we talk about the intense fascination some people have with celebrities, otherwise known as, parasocial relationships. While there are many examples of this we didn’t discuss in this episode, one of the main ones revolves around celebrity relationships and their sexuality. We discuss the strong fandom behind Gaylor (Taylor Swift being secretly gay) and Larry (the secret romance between One Directioners, Harry Style and Louis Tomlinson). When a person’s sexuality is something that’s highly respected in the 2023, why do we feel it’s appropriate to make assumptions about famous people we have no personal connection to? We also talk about blind items and how uncomfortable they can be. Can anyone submit a baseless blind item just to stir things up? When comparing celebrity blind items to ”real world” rumors we’ve had spread about us, we agree it’s a bad feeling. Celebs are just like us: they have feelings!
