Music Biopic Week (A Complete Unknown, I’m Not There, Notorious, & The Dirt)

We had to make some last minute changes to our list since some movies are no longer on streaming, but we’re excited to have our first music biopic episode! We were excited to finally watch A Complete Unknown and decided to add I’m Not There to the mix even though they’re very different films based on the same person. There’s no denying the former is a detailed interpretation of Bob Dylan’s life, while the latter definitely went in a more artistic direction. If we’re ranking these four, we both agree that Notorious and The Dirt are at the end of the list. Both films have interesting stories to tell about iconic musicians, but we felt they missed the mark for different reasons. What other music biopics would you like to see? Our plan is to add some based on women for a future episode!

Yes, we planned to have our Book Club this week, but there was just too much to pack into one episode with all the movies, the Met Gala, and the news that the Golden Globes are adding a podcasting category.
