Complicated Female Leads (Erin Brockovich, Carol, Notes on a Scandal, & Coyote Ugly)

We’re back this week after having to take an unexpected break last week! The theme of films we discuss revolve around some complicated female stories with some being more intriguing than others. We actually hadn’t ever seen most of these movies which is a surprise since they’re all very well known! It was easy to draw a comparison to Carol and Notes on a Scandal which both feature the captivating Cate Blanchet. These movies both served their purpose and gave a thought provoking take on different kinds of relationships, but we both felt Notes was the stronger film. Unfortunately, Ailish was unable to watch Erin Brockovich, so Hannah gave her take which wasn’t what you might expect. We also discussed Coyote Ugly which is somewhat of a cult classic these days although the film overall leaves much to be desired. 

In pop culture news, we touch on the drama happening with Bill Belichick and his girlfriend, Jordan Hudson, the release date for the new Yorgo Lanthimos movie with Emma Stone, and the casting announcements for the new Hunger Games movie.
