Bahattin Akşit 2024 Berkes & Boran: Construction of a Sociological Appraoch during 1940's in Ankara

This video is the English version of the Lecture on Niyazi Berkes and Behice Boran who were founders of a Sociological Approach in Faculty of Language, History and Geography of Ankara University. Niyazi Berkes was born in 1908 and died in 1979, while Behice Boran was born in 1910 and died in exile in 1987. They both came to the Faculty of Language, History and Geography of Ankara University at the beginning of Second World War, they lived through the war years doing sociological field research in villages and cities and construction a new research program in sociology until there were evicted from the Ankara University with the use of extra-academic political force.
