Join us for Cn Tim Clayton's sermon: Creation Tide 2: You are a Garden that God is Tending

We continue this season of Creationtide with another thought provoking sermon from Tim.
From our scripture in Genesis:
"God blessed them (Adam and Eve):
...Be responsible for the fish in the sea and the birds in the air, and for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.”
 -Genesis 1:28

In this insightful sermon, Tim looks at 3 questions as we continue our journey through Creation Tide:
-Does Genesis 3 and the fall of mankind cancel out Genesis 2 and God's instructions for us to care for the earth and creation?

-Why does the bible begin with a garden and end with a city?

-In the New Testament the church is called the Body of Christ and the Bride of Christ, so can we actually refer to the church as a garden?

-How do we have hope? How do you engender hope?
Hope is a muscle, you have to use it, you have to exercise it, you have to feed it nutritious food. The soil of our hearts get tilled, softened, and turned over so that new seeds can be sown into our hearts.

God's creation is to Him a garden. Our lives to God are gardens.
Can you imagine your life as a garden that God is tending and working and keeping? Can you imagine our church as a garden that God is tending and working and keeping? Can you imagine yourself as a fruit bearer in God's garden? Deeply loved and cared for?

Our prayer: Oh Lord, grow us as a garden of your goodness.

History of Creation Tide: The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew (Eastern Orthodox) proposed in 1989 that September 1st (the first day of the Orthodox Church year) should be observed as a day “of protection of the natural environment”. In 2016, Pope Francis declared 1 September an annual World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. This was expanded in Europe to be a season — Creationtide — going from September 1st until October 4th (the Feast of St Francis), and has been adopted in many churches around the world, including some in the Anglican Communion.
