"When we view (perceive) prayer as a call to duty or a responsibility, it also affects how we approach it. We feel obliged to pray and guilty when we don't do it. This perspective often leads us to believe that negative consequences may befall us if we neglect prayer and makes our prayer life driven by fear and guilt. But, 2 Timothy 1:7 states, 'For God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.'"

Does our perception process affect our prayer life? In Part 2, Janet McHenry, author of Praying Personalities: Finding Your Natural Prayer Style, continues to guide us into understanding the difference between perceiving prayer as a privilege instead of a responsibility. She also invites us to get to know our individual, God-breathed pray-er personality.
