Ad van Dortmont, originally from The Netherlands, developed a passion for exploration early in his childhood while roaming his family farm. Growing up in a resourceful, close-knit environment instilled in him a strong appreciation for balance, sustainability, and adaptation—principles that have guided his approach to adventure and problem-solving throughout his life. After excelling at university, where he studied Spatial Planning, Ad’s career included roles in government and consultancy, where he consistently connected people and developed solutions through outdoor excursions. In 2013, he became an independent consultant, allowing him to focus on real-world challenges via exploration and expeditions.
Having traveled extensively across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, Ad seeks out unique landscapes and different ways of living, learning meaningful solutions from diverse cultures. Notable experiences include witnessing innovative local adaptations, such as glacier icetowers in Pakistan. His journeys are driven by a desire to discover sustainable practices and inspire others, particularly in addressing global problems like climate change, food security, and biodiversity loss. Ad values engagement, open-mindedness, and cultural exchange, believing every culture offers worthwhile lessons.
