Just how do you solve a problem like Syria? A murderous regime that has no qualms about dropping bombs on its own people ququeing for bread or in a school playground; a fractious, radicalised and violent opposition fighting group bent on revenge and sectarian strife, plus a political opposition that is not only exiled but also incoherent and ineffective. Had the chemical attacks near Damascus not happened the week before.
