Today on the podcast we are chatting about how eating TOO healthy can actually be a bad thing. It even has a term: orthorexia. A fear of all food that is NOT classified as "healthy and whole".
I fell into that trap at one time, and I am sure many of you feel the same way. We are told that artificial things and sugars among other things are SO incredibly bad for us. Yet, the best athletes are constantly pounding fast food meals to improve their performance!
As with anything, less nutrient dense foods have their time and place. They help to keep our cravings in check, are beneficial when we need a heaping amount of carbs and fats. Also, sodium, which you may not get enough of and flush out if you are constantly chugging water. Lastly, they are just plain ENJOYABLE.
I truly believe everything in moderation. Depending on your activity levels, health history and dieting preferences, most people can be okay with adding some "non-healthy" foods into their everyday diet. This is as long as they are regularly active and are getting ENOUGH whole nutrient dense foods.
So, sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's tea on healthy eating.
